CEED/UCEED Results 2021 Are Out
The Common Entrance Examination For Design (CEED), and the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination For Design (UCEED) are joint entrance examinations for undergraduate and post-graduate students in the field of technical design which are held annually for all IITs, and IISC (Indian Institute Of Science). These exams are held by the Institute Of Design Technology Bombay and the Industrial Design Centre on behalf of the Ministry Of Human Resource Development, Government Of India.
Both the UCEED and the CEED are descriptive tests that evaluate a design aspirant’s logical, observational, creative, and drawing skills in order for them to qualify for the UCEED coaching and CEED coaching programs at some of the most prestigious institutes of India; IITs, and IISCs. These programs cover the fields of industrial design, product design, vehicle design, visual communication, animation & graphics, and mobility.
According to sources, approximately 12,000 students appear for the UCEED exams and approximately more than 5,000 students appear for the CEED examinations every year. There are 179 seats being available for design aspirants through the UCEED counseling process and approximately 200 seats available for CEED aspirants through the CEED counseling process. This year 8 SILICA students ranked in the AIR top 10 for the UCEED and CEED exams in total with Sakshi Shrinivas Balchandra ranking 1st and Abhisek Tikader ranking 2nd in CEED 2021 category ranks. In the UCEED examinations, 6 SILICA students ranked in the top 10 with Anuj Ambhore ranking 2nd, Aditi Chintey ranking 3rd, Chahat Vinod Hinduja ranking 5th, Aarya Vinayak Ghodke ranking 9th, and Atharva Anil Vankundre along with Kayra Pao ranking 10th in the UCEED category ranks.

This year both the UCEED examinations and the CEED examinations are conducted in the month of January every year within 24 national centers and +1 international center for UCEED exams and CEED exams. This year the UCEED results were declared in the month of April and the CEED results were declared in the month of March with the final answer key being released on the 31st of January itself.
Until 2019 the UCEED exams question paper contained 85 questions but since UCEED 2020 that has been changed to 69 questions in the duration of three hours. The students are evaluated out of 300 marks. The UCEED exams comprise of two parts – Part A which is a computer-based test and comprises of three sections; Numerical Answer Type or NAT, Multiple Select Questions or MSQ, and Multiple-Choice Questions or MCQ. In Part B though the exam is displayed on the computer screen consisting of one drawing question and aspirants need to attempt it on the answer booklet provided by the invigilator.
Similarly, the CEED exams are also divided into two parts – Part A and Part B containing 46 questions in total; 41 objective type questions divided into three sections (NAT, MSQ, and MCQ) and 5 drawing and subjective questions in a total of three hours of duration. Both the UCEED and the CEED exams are conducted on the same day just at different timing. The CEED Part A consists of objective-type questions and Part B contains drawing questions. The total score students are evaluated on for both the parts is 200 marks (each part is 100 marks). Only the students who get short-listed in CEED Part A are eligible for Part B of CEED exams though. Part A of the CEED exams is conducted online through a computer-based test like UCEED and Part B is an offline test.
In total this year 1000+ SILICA students applied for the UCEED/CEED examinations out of which 350+ cleared the exams.
