CEED Coaching in Bhopal 2026 / 2027
The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is a joint entrance exam for post- graduate studies in the field of technological design held annually jointly at all IITs and IIScs. The examination is hosted by the Industrial Design Center, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India It is a descriptive test covering a student’s logical, creative, observation, and drawing skills, tested in particular for admission to various design courses in the fields of product design, industrial design, visual communication, animation, graphics, vehicle design, and mobility.
Gone are the days when engineering or medicine were the only desirable career streams, and a lot of students are opting for courses in technological design, where they can both have a creative and profitable career.
Examination- They have undergone some changes in the year 2013 and now the questions are divided into parts A and B.
Part A has MCQ questions on the topics like logical reasoning, little about history, famous paintings and artists, perspective (very important), logo, typography, etc. If you score above that cut-off score, your part B paper will be evaluated, which determines your CEED score and rank. Part B is a subjective exam. Part A is for 1 hr, then part B for 2 hrs (total 3 hrs). In part B, you need to be a quick sketcher. Talking about part B questions, there are 4 questions categorized like this:
Situation question (50 marks): You will be given a situation/problem. You are supposed to come up with a solution for that problem. There are 5 questions like this (Communication design, Interaction design, Product design, vehicle design, and animation design). You are supposed to attempt anyone.
Drawing question (20 marks): You will have 2 questions. You will have to attempt anyone. The question will have a scene. You need to sketch that scene. Ex: A boy is being chased by a dog on the street.
Creative Idea question (20 marks): You will be given an object. You are supposed to think of 5 different and interesting use cases for that particular object.
Storyboarding (10 marks): You will be given the names of some objects. You are supposed to write 2 short stories within 30 words that will have those objects in the story.
