What is U-CEED?
UCEED is the acronym for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination. It is a national level examination held each year. Examinees who aspire to study BDes courses to build a career in design appear for this competitive examination.
In this exam, students are required to answer the questions within 3 hours. The questions in this competitive examination carry a total of 300 marks.
What BDes programs do IITs offer?
In terms of BDes programs, IITs offer four-year degree courses on various specializations such as textile designing, accessory designing, interior designing, and fashion designing, and more of the same kind.
What is the eligibility for UCEED for admission to the BDes program at IITs?
For those who wish to take the UCEED examination for admission to BDes. courses, it is mandatory to have a higher secondary degree. Also, those who will appear for their higher secondary examination in 2021 can apply for admission. However, the only condition is that they need to go through a qualifying examination.
Examinees can choose any one of the subjects ranging from science to arts and commerce for taking the qualifying examination. It depends on their stream. Those who pass their higher secondary examination from the science stream with specialization in mathematics, physics, and chemistry are eligible for admission to different B.Des programs in the IITs. They can enroll in one of the B.Des courses in IIT Bombay, IITDM Jabalpur, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Guwahati.

What is the process for admission to the BDes program at IITs?
To get admission to the BDes program at IITs, you need to fill up a form and upload the requisite documents. Thereafter, you need to submit BDesform, take a print, sign it, and upload it.
What is the pattern of the U-CEED entrance exam?
UCEED exam question paper consists of two parts – Part A and Part B. . Given below are the highlights of the UCEED entrance exam.

In Part A, there will be three distinct sections in the question paper: Section A, Section B, and Section C. These three sections will have numerical answer type (NAT) questions, multiple select questions (MSQs), and multiple c choice questions (MCQs). While there is no negative marking for incorrect answers to questions from section A and B, there will be negative marking only for wrong answers to the questions from section C.
IIT Bombay has kept the pattern for the competitive examination the same. What it means is that the total number of questions for both sections will remain the same. Overall, aspirants will need to answer 69 questions.
What is the syllabus for U-CEED exam?
For a systematic and thorough preparation, aspirants of UCEED entrance examination must know the syllabus. Those who prepare for the competitive examination with its syllabus in mind have a better chance of acing it.
The syllabus of UCEED comprises of two parts: part A and part B. The Part A of the UCEED exam syllabus comprises of the following subjects:

- Design thinking and Problem Solving
- Environmental and Social Awareness
- Analytical and Logical Reasoning
- Visualization and Spatial Ability
- Observation and Design Sensitivity
The part B of UCEED syllabus consists of questions on a drawing. Examiners expect examinees to show a sense of shading, perspective, proportion, composition, and line quality. In most cases, students get the question of drawing people and scenes.

What is the passing score / cut off for passing the U-CEED exam?
Making it to the merit list is important for UCEED aspirants for admission to B.Des courses. For this to happen, they must secure the minimum number of marks or cut-off.
